It’s today! How did this pass me by? I know celebrating the consumption of cocktails isn’t the most family friendly thing I could blog about, but hey….we’re all adults here. Right? So, go forth and have a cocktail – responsibly please. Here’s a few to consider (all recipes make four drinks):
Gin Shandy (from Real Simple)
1 cup lemonade
1 12ounce bottle ginger beer
3/4 cup gin
Combine in a pitcher and serve over ice.
Classic Margarita (from Real Simple)
3/4 cup tequila
1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from 4 to 6 limes – the stuff that comes in the green plastic lime doesn’t count)
1/2 cup Triple Sec or Cointreau
Combine all ingredients plus 1/2 cup water. Serve over ice.
Easy Peach Sangria
1 bottle sauvignon blanc
1/3 bottle peach schnapps
Sliced Peaches
Slightly muddle peaches in the bottom of a pitcher. Add schnapps and wine. Chill and serve.
Pomegranate Prosecco Cocktail
Bottle of Prosecco
Medium size bottle Pomegranate juice (use whichever variety you like)
Combine equal parts chilled Prosecco and juice in a flute.
And one kid friendly “cocktail” for good measure:
San Diego Sunrise (makes one)
6 ounces orange juice
4 ounces sparkling water
1/2 ounce grenadine
How about a family friendly cocktail party? Sounds fun to me.
